The art of massage has been a health tool for centuries, and with good reason. Even if you don’t feel as though you’re in pain, daily stress can cause health issues suddenly and without warning.
By the time we’re aware of pain, it may seem the only thing that will help is harsh medication. So we drug ourselves. But there is almost always a natural alternative.
Deep muscle manipulation releases stress, promotes relaxation and healing, eliminates anxiety, and can improve mental function.
However, the thought of getting a daily deep muscle massage is a mere dream for many people. After all, few can really afford such luxury, right? Not necessarily.
The truth is that daily massages aren’t only available to those with deep pockets or access to an on-call massage therapist. You don’t need to take a second mortgage out on the house or knock out a living room wall to find the space for a giant robotic machine either. Human Touch iJoy massage chairs are preferable options for many. Of course, they do have some major limitations.
The following models are favorites by consumers who don’t have bottomless wallets.
HT Massage Chair iJoy-2580 Massage Chair
The HT iJoy-2580 was rated as a Consumer Digest’s Best Buy in 2013 and is considered to be iJoy’s top model in terms of quality and price. But why is that the case? The low seated chair is made of faux leather and suede materials that can be easily wiped clean after using. Extra amenities such as a removable softening pad, cup holder, and auxiliary power outlet help mold your new health aid to your specific lifestyle needs.
At the push of a button, the pre-programmed 15 minute massage options begin working on your upper, middle, or lower back. Four professional massage therapy techniques can also be manually programmed by you for instant relief whenever discomfort occurs, or when time open up in your busy schedule.
Those techniques modes include kneading, compression, percussion, and “refresh entire back”.
Kneading relieves sore muscles by lifting the skin and pressing into the muscles. Compression technique spreads wider muscle areas and works as a deep massage.
The rocking motion of the compressions decompress joints within the spine and helps the body heal after intense activity. Percussion mode creates a rapid-style alternating tapping to stimulate muscles and relieve pressure along the spinal column.
This helps improve circulation and strengthen weak muscles while preventing painful cramps and spasms. “Refresh entire back” mode uses the roller bar to provide constant pressure on your back as it improves circulation and relieves muscle tension throughout the back. It’s especially good for releasing trapped tension in the lower back.
The unit weighs 88 pounds, and has an upright chair height of 44”. Recline angle reaches 165 degrees and it only needs to be 11.5 inches away from the wall to operate in recline mode. 2 motors and quad rollers ensure the massage is steady and strong. And the 2 year limited warranty guarantees against any potential issues.
However, iJoy floor level products are not intended for large or tall users. Anyone over 5’7” may find the need to slouch in the chair in order to enjoy the full range of benefits from the machine.
HT Massage Chair iJoy-2310 Massage Chair, Black
The iJoy-2310 is another iJoy product that earned the rating in 2013 as a Best Buy in Consumer Digest, and many happy customers agree. The small package contains plenty of power. At 60 pounds (71 pounds shipping weight), it can be wheeled and positioned anywhere in your home for easy access.
Three auto massage options and four professional massage techniques work on your upper body for intense stress relief. A removable softening pad allows you to adjust the strength of the massage manually as well.
You can easily choose whether you want to relieve tension from your shoulders and neck, release stress from your lover back, or refresh your entire back.
Human Touch Technology mimics human hands and arms to give you 24-hour access to your own in-home massage therapist. 3d massage rollers which are usually found only on high priced massage chair models provide the professional techniques and massage movements. Each technique provides a refreshing 15 minute massage.
2 motors and quad rollers offer full range motions and keep the massages strong and tailored to your needs. The chair only needs to be 16 inches from the wall in order to enjoy the full benefits.
And the 2-year limited warranty easily protects you in the event repairs are needed. The 115-135 degree recline isn’t the top of the line option, but it’s decent for the price. It’s important to note, however, that with a 35” upright chair height and 48” recline length, this model is meant for petite to average sized users.
Basically anyone over 5”9 and 170 pounds may have find this model difficult to use.
Human Touch iJoy HT-2720 Massage Chair
The HT – 2720 is the largest model of the iJoy series, and the weight reflects that at 101 pounds. Shipping weight is a substantial 200 pounds. The chair offers the same three auto massage modes as its siblings, and the same four massage techniques. So then, how does it differ from the two?
The 2720 offers 3 different shoulder height options, which may assist those who are taller than the suggested user size.
The “Relief Zone” is an area in the head rest which can be flipped back to provide a deep tissue massage to the back of the head and neck region. Ergonomic design, figertip controlled cup holder, and remote pocket are standard on all iJoy models. The 2720 reclines 112-160 degrees for a custom massage experience.
If price is your main concern, you could do better with the other two. However, if you need more body room, this is a worthy consideration. It’s still only 40” high in upright position, so it still won’t fit many taller body needs.
But it only needs to be extended 19” from the wall in order to recline. That’s the furthest length of all three models, but still far less than gigantic 3d models.
So then, what’s the verdict? These chairs are not intended for larger people or those with serious pain issues. While the massage can be strong, simply getting down into the lowered chair can cause extra pain or discomfort. And then slouching to experience the benefits can cause even more problems.
But if you’re of average built, small to average height, and intend to use your iJoy massage chair as a stress relief tool or to work tired but not unbearably sore muscles, it can be wonderfully effective and save you a bundle to boot.
